Q.
Why is the wrist guard on the BACK of my wrist with the Flexmeter
instead of on my palm, like a Rollerblade wrist guard?
A. Flexmeter's signature flexible splints with flex zone at the wrist sit on
the dorsal (knuckle) side of the hand and arm to help prevent the most
common snowboard and skate injury, caused by hyper-extension or hyper
flexion (bending too far.)
To properly function during an arm-extended snowboard-fall, the forces
that build-up in the middle of the flexible splints are transferred to the
straps that encircle the wrist.
These forces within the straps are then transferred to the palm-side of
the wrist. The other (equal and opposite) forces that build-up on the ends
of the flexible splint are distributed to the dorsal-side (back side) of the
wrist and arm.
All of the injury statistics that have been compiled with Flexmeter
products involve the flexible splint located ONLY on the back-side (dorsal
side). Although some injuries always occur, Flexmeter has been shown to be
the most effective product on the market to reduce the occurrence of
snowboard wrist fractures.

Q.
Can I use Flexmeters for
biking and other sports?
For biking, order the single Flexmeter Wrist Guard, or
the glove. The All Season Guard with light palm protection will interfere
with holding onto the handles. My readers seem to like wearing the wrist
guards for BMX biking more than for street biking.
For horseback riding also order the single
Flexmeter Wrist Guard.
For skateboarding and ice skating, we suggest
the Flexmeter All Season Wrist Guard because it has light palm support
besides the dorsal splint. In fact the All Season Wrist Guard was designed
for skateboarding and ice skating. The small plastic "slide guard" on the
palm will help you slide forward smoothly on concrete if you fall while
skateboarding
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q.
I'm not sure whether I should order the wrist guards or the
gloves?
A. I have used them both.
The advantage of the Flexmeter wrist guards is that you can still use
your favorite gloves, as long as they are not too snug. You need a little
extra room in your glove to fit the guards under the gloves.
And of course the wrist guards cost less. If you are a skateboarder
as well as a snowboarder you may want to order the Flexmeter All Season
Wrist Guard because it is designed for both.
The advantage of the Flexmeter gloves is that they are very warm,
water resistant, great looking, and much easier to slip on and off than the
glove over separate wrist guard. I don't know about you, but I slip a glove
or 2 off on almost every lift ride to futz around with something in my gear
- zipper, Kleenex, Camelbak, Chapstick, you get the picture.
The new Flexmeter Pipe Guard Glove is a stylish wrist length glove
and the flexible Hytrel splint actually extends outside the glove so you can
tuck it neatly under the cuff of your jacket with no gap.
SnowboardSecret: I always tie black elastic loops through the wrist loop on my gloves and slip my hand
through the loop so I don't drop my glove off the lift. You've seen those
gloves lying below the lift!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. What size
should I order?
A. For the Flexmeter GLOVES, order the size
you would take in a Unisex snowboard glove. The
"flexion zone" (that's the bendy part) should line up with the top side of
your wrist joint.
If you order a size that doesn't work, you can pay to send the unused
Flexmeter guards or gloves back to us and we will pay to ship the new pair
out to you by regular mail. If you need them faster you pay the difference
for priority shipping.
SIZE NOTES
For Kids: Please note that the small wrist guard is very
small, great for kids.
For Women: Most women should order the medium size wrist guard or
small if you're short and thin boned..
For Men: Most Men should order the large size wrist guard
unless you are smaller
than average.
See the info below for specifics.
Flexmeter WRIST GUARD Dimensions and Colors

larger snowboard glove to fit over the wrist guard.
(Scroll down for explanation of measurements.)
We suggest for simplicity to follow the size guidelines above for
your gender and age. They usually work as well as the measurement guidelines
below.

Explanation of the Measurements Above:
Thumb Web to Middle Wrist Flexline of wrist guard
Measurement
Use a tape measure and start it at the edge of the skin between your thumb
and first finger. Then measure straight down to the bend in your wrist.
Maximum Wrist Strap Length Measurement
(For people with BIG hands) - Put your hand flat on a table, fingers and
thumb all close together. Measure your hand from the base of the pinkie
finger at it's widest, all the way around. This measurement must be smaller
than the Maximum Wrist Strap Length for the wrist guard to slip over your
hand easily.
Length of Hytrel Splint Measurement - the Hytrel splint goes on the BACK of
your wrist to slow down the impact of a fall on the snow, much like a
seatbelt in a car. The top of the splint sits at the base of your fingers.
This measurement tells you how far down your arm the splint will end.

Q. How small is your small size?
A. Our smallest items are:
XS and small size gloves
Small wrist guards.
The small glove is what I wear. I'm 5'1" and 118 lbs. The fingers of the
small glove may be too long for a child or adult with very small hands. Then
the XS glove will be better.
The small wrist guard is quite small, suitable for a child, with
the flexible guard being just under 7 inches long. The medium size with the
guard at 8.25 inches long is a better choice for small adults,
women or men.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q.
How big is your big size?
If your hand is very large, and you try the large wrist guard, you may
have a problem fitting your hand inside. You may do better with the XL size
glove. This glove is big and has long cuffs.
note: Some tall big men can wear the medium size glove, depending on hand size.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q.
Will the Flexmeter Wrist Guards
fit under my favorite snowboard gloves?
A. Please be aware that these will probably NOT fit under your favorite
snowboard glove, unless it is very roomy. You may have to use a larger size
than you are wearing now.
We have had some returns for this reason, so we want you to know in advance.
If you do not have a larger pair of snowboard gloves, perhaps you would want
to upgrade your order to the Flexmeter Glove with built in wrist guard. The
gloves are warm, water resistant, comfortable, and stylish.

Q.
I'm leaving on my
snowboarding trip in a few days.
Will my order arrive in time?
A. We usually ship by USPS (US Postal Service) Priority Mail, (we
often the small and medium wrist guards by First Class Mail) which
usually takes 3-4 business days from the day shipped. We try to get orders
out within 2 days. If you're in a hurry we can use FedEx 2nd day service
(which arrives the 3rd business day from when we ship). It costs you $12
extra, which you can pay by PayPal using the FedEx order button on the order
page.
To be sure we can FedEx, you must email us or call (Lauren 914 764-0115)
before placing your order. Send your phone number. If your item is not in
stock or we are out of our office, we cannot ship it immediately. As long as
we are in the office and your item is available, we push FedEx orders to the
front of the line for shipping because we know you need them quickly.

Q. Hi - I have a pair of Flexmeter gloves, and I love them. But now they need a wash. How do I wash them?
thanks - Posey
A. Use mild soap (Woolite type) and warm water.
Don't wash them until you have a couple of days for them to dry
thoroughly.
Or use a boot dryer.
Immerse the gloves in warm water with a little Woolite and swish around,
rinse well, and roll them up in a thick towel to squeeze excess moisture out
If you have boot dryers put them inside to dry. I have also used the washing
machine on a short gentle cycle and it works fine.
Don't stick your hairdryer inside. I once melted a hairdryer that way!
After they dry, if they need to be "re-waterproofed," spray or paint on
some of those preparations made for gloves and outdoor wear. Do it outside
and let the gloves dry as directed before wearing them.

Q. What is
that little strip of clear plastic on the left thumb of the Flexmeter
Gloves?
A. A goggle wiper! (Found in sizes S, M, and L only, not in the XS and XL
which are a different mode.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. What is your return

A. If you need to return your item/s:

the base price before shipping will be refunded MINUS a $3 service
fee. You pay to ship them back to us.
Please email us first and tell us why you

Q. Can I just wear my
short wrist guards from rollerblading?
A. Take a look at a nasty fracture from wearing short
stiff wrist guards
here. This X-Ray and photo are from an injury tended to by
Dr. Marc-Hervé Binet, MD.
He analyzed thousands of snowboard injuries like this before he designed the
Flexmeter products available here. (Thanks to Ski-Injury.com for this link)
