Still looking for something fun to do this summer? Still craving snow?

How about … SNOWBOARDING! I’ve been to summer snowboard camp for 2 years, it’s great! See my Snowboard Camp Reports page at http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/camps.htm

Here’s the word from my friends who run camps and tours.
There is still time to get into some of their sessions. Read on.

Sorry this issue is late. Had a little trouble with my email system. In fact I don’t know if anyone got my last Szine, Issue 51, listing the newest articles on the site, and exclusive interview with Eddie Wall, Sr. It’s posted here if you missed it. http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/Newsletter/zine_dex.htm

A few highlights of the winter season that we've covered on the site are: the Union Square Street Sessions Rail Jam right in NY City, Winter X Games, Honda Sessions at Vail, "Grenade Strikes Back" at Mountain Creek, the debut of Boardercross at Plattekill, and one of my personal faves, Spring Loaded at Killington. We covered the US Open and we've got some great photos of that posted too. Access to all articles at http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/Articles/articles.htm

Hey, drop me a note to say you got this email. I haven’t heard from my readers lately! It’s not snowing, but there’s still adventure and fun to be had!

1. SMK Camp in France – great for adults too!

SMK Camp in Les Deux Alpes, France is the one I went to last summer. It was my 2nd time in Les2Alpes, and I think that little resort town is one of the best places on earth! See my feature on SMK camp here. http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/Articles/SMK.htm

SMK Camp was a very well organized camp, a lot of fun, and very reasonable prices. This camp is great for adults too, and is held on the biggest glacier in Europe, with the best summer terrain park in Europe.

Contact me if you are interested in going and I can give you more scoop. Btw, snowboard media are extended a special invitation here. Ask me! SMK snowboard presents SMK riders' hotel
SMK snowboard has just launched the website of its strongest bet for this upcoming summer. It's SMK riders' hotel, a new and unique international hotel based in Les 2 Alpes which is entirely run by snowboarders, employs only snowboarders and it is offers a bunch of pretty cool rider oriented services. Probably like no other hotel you have ever been to, you'll feel a different atmosphere here: snowboard's in the air.
SMK riders' hotel is just the place to be at Les 2 Alpes: it offers a neat, Scandinavian style accommodation with up to 60 rooms to lodge more than 120 people at a time and services include: large restaurant with Italian and Basque food; large projection room for movies; chill-out area with bar; pool and daily DJ sessions; Indoboard room; 3 trampolines with specific Guru Trampboards ; wifi internet in all rooms with network HD for video-streaming; entertainment room with 50” plasma screen, satellite TV, X-box 360, Nintendo Wii and PS2; snowboard workshop; room massage service… and of course, loads of party. Only rule here: respect!
Most importantly , SMK snowboard has made a big effort to make SMK riders' hotel the most important meeting point this summer in Les 2 Alpes for international press, teams, pro-riders and camp organizations: Method snowboard magazine, Playboard, Tacky, SCUK, SMK e-mag and much more have already confirmed their stay ; the crew from Demonium Masta Camps, the Girlie Camps, SMK camps; riders such as Tonton Holland or Damien Henzelin and teams such as Nineworth's or Imperium's and a big chunk of the Spanish scene just to name a few…

3. Warped Tour needs Volunteers at B4BC Booth

If you want to go on the road and have a ball in the US this summer, read what my friend Ilana writes. Btw Ilana also does a great job keeping fresh my myspace page at http://myspace.com/snowboardsecrets. I love the new Michael Franti and Spearhead song I picked for my page after seeing them last week! Go there and listen, and be my friend!

I wanted to spread the news that Boarding For Breast Cancer is looking for some volunteers (it's easy and fun) to work at their educational booth on the Warped Tour this summer. You get to listen to some great music, be out in the sun, meet great people and help out an awesome organization all in just some hours of volunteering.

4. Snow Expeditions into Chile and Argentina

My friend Ian Gill writes:

Steep-N-Deep Powder Tours has been in operation for the past four years, leading snow expeditions into Chile and Argentina. We offer a wide variety of tours as short as eight days and as long as a seventeen day journey traveling from Chile to Argentina and back. Our goal is to Show the world what Chile and Argentina has to offer and that's some of the best powder and terrain in the world. Along with the snow we want to show our guests the culture and the beauty of this region of the world.

Our tours start as early as June 25th and depart as late as September 10th. Our signature tour is "A Taste of Chile", ten days of fun and excitement. Starting out in Santiago we head to the beach town of Vina Del Mar to relax after the long flight down. The next morning we head back to Santiago to take in the beauty and culture of the capital city. Now that we have taken in the culture it's time for the snow, we spend the next 8 days exploring the resorts of La Parva, El Colorado, and Valle Nevado. Everything included except the air fare for $2500, prices are subject to Change so please inquire. Check us out at www.sndtours.com Tell them Lauren sent you!

6. Snowboard Exchange Students Need Homes

Can’t go someplace exotic this summer? Then the exotic can come right to you!

I received this request for host families. Some of the students are snowboarders. I looked at the website and it looks legit. Pass this info on to anyone who might be interested. Thanks, Lauren

Share Your Home. Change the World. Host a YFU Exchange Student!

Youth for Understanding (YFU) is offering families of this meetup.com group, and their friends, the opportunity to share their home with a teenager from another country for the 2007-2008 school year. We are looking for families to host for an academic year or a semester, beginning in August.

Hosting is an enjoyable and wonderful learning experience for the whole family! Even though family lifestyles have changed over the years, the need for love and friendship has not. Parents will always be interested in enriching their children's lives and young people will always be interested in making friends and exploring the world. Other than going abroad yourself, hosting an exchange student is one of the best ways to experience another culture. Since many families create lifelong relationships with the students they host, the experience is incredibly rewarding.

Students come with diverse interests, including snowboarding! The students all have their own spending money and health insurance. All families need to provide is a loving home. Students can share a room with a sibling of the same sex.

For more information about the YFU hosting program, please call or email me!

Thank you!

Your friend through YFU,
