FAT TRAX WINS FOURTH ANNUAL SHOP SHOWDOWN AT LOON MOUNTAIN

LINCOLN, NH - March 11, 2006 was the date for Loon Mountains fourth Annual Shop Showdown. The super fun but ultra laidback event brought 16 teams to the shootout this year. Eastern Boarder, Laced, Fat Trax, and NuWave Sports just to mention a few. You know thereıs some guaranteed fun involved when almost every team shows up in some sort of costume or uniform. The wind died and the sun pierced the clouds just as the event kicked off with the 18' quarterpipe jam. Andrew Johnson led the way with some huge airs, while others like Jacques Beriau stayed a little closer to earth with steezy lip tricks.

After a lunch break the high ollie contest kicked off. Nelson Wormstead from Oakley provided some audio entertainment for the event and ended up winning the bet that was going around for the highest ollie. The session started off at 20 inches and slowly grew, knocking out riders as it went up. At about 40 inches it was down to 5 riders, then at 42 inches the ollie king was Shaun Murphy from Fat Trax. Everyone was super pumped, and he just kept on going topping out at 48 inches or 4 feet, either way thatıs huge for an ollie!

The sun stayed out for the rail portion of the event and it was sick. The course consisting of a down rail, a down box, a doghouse box, and a battleship box - making for tons of trickery. Chris Grenier had it all, but his switch frontboard to boardslide 270 out could not be topped. All and all it was a great day of food, fun, friends, and snow shredding!
