                                            It's Winter in Summer

The Park in Les Deux Alpes, biggest summer terrain park in Europe

I had to force myself to drop in right over the steep edge of the halpipe since the top low end of the pipe was closed to prevent erosion damage. It doesn't look steep from here, but......

At the top of the park I noticed a guy speaking American English to a bunch of 14 and 16 year olds, coaching them. Trust me, this was the ONLY "grown-up" speaking American English anywhere in the park besides me. (If I can call myself a grown-up, Iım sometimes not sure if I qualify.)

Anyway...I introduced myself, and sure enough if it wasnıt Bud Keene, US Olympic halfpipe coach from the 2006 team that DOMINATED!, led by Gretchen Bleiler and Shaun White. I had met Bud at Cherrybone snowboard shop in VT right after the US Open just back in April. Hey, it really is a small world!

To see what Bud Keene will be doing now that heıs stepped back from being Olympic halfpipe coach, click here. Thatıs the Pro Scoop page, with updates on other snowboard pros too. You can find Pro Scoop in the Nav bar on the left also.
