Hayes Brothers Spring Loaded
at Killington, Vermont
  April 9 and 10th, 2005
On April 9 and 10 the 12th annual Hayes Brothers Spring Loaded Pro-Am took place at Killington, VT.
The Spring Loaded is the largest East Coast snowboarding competition behind the US Open. It was a fun weekend competition at Killingtonšs Bear Mountain, with  warm weather and bluebird skies - more an end- of-the-season celebration than just a competition.  Instead of being a stage to watch pros throw down, this is one event where the ams and the pros have fun riding together.

Over $15,000 of cash and prizes was at stake. Saturday was the Superpipe competition. The competitors were fueled by a free barbeque at the base of the pipe. Chelene Miller took 1st in the men's pro division and Karla Gembarowski took home the gold in the women's pro division.

A Saturday night Rail Jam was added to the Spring Loaded this year and though temperatures dropped with the sun, it was exhilarating and exciting!  Scott Stevens was the top male and Jamie Herbert edged out Jen Buono for the top female spot. Top poacher was the always stoked and venerable Mike DeStasio, who nailed a solid one-footer.

Sunday was another beautiful day for the Slopestyle Event at the Bear Mountain Terrain Park. Josh Ramharter & Scott Truman finished in a dead heat in the men's pro division while Monique Hyman took home the gold in the women's pro division.

The sponsors hooked it up with piles of prizes for the top amateurs & a huge raffle.  In keeping with the vibe of the event, bigger corporate companies were shunned for solid, core companies.  Goods from Hayes Brothers Snowboards, Grenade, I Path, One Ball Jay, Odessa Watches, Black Flys Eyewear, Capix Helmets, Satori Wheels and Creation Skateboards were literally flying around the room.

It was all capped off with the timeless Little Feat jamming at the base of the mountain with the legendary Outer Limits mogul field as a backdrop.  Spinning through hits like "Rocket in my Pocket,", "Fat Man in the Bathtub," "Willin'", "Don't Bogart that Joint" and finally capping off the Spring Loaded weekend with "Dixie Chicken". The smell and sounds of Spring were in the air, in Vermont!

Don't miss the 13th annual Hayes Brothers Spring Loaded Pro Am next April!
