Metal and Ice
The
Terrain Park at Mountain Creek, NJ
A Quick Riding Tour from the Top to
the Bottom
By Justin Maury
If you’ve ever
been to the "dirty Jersey" (Mountain Creek) you probably know that the
park consists of almost all rails and a few hits. And those few jumps
are either too soft or mirrors of frozen ice to check your goggle sag
on. This is why there are so many crazy riders spreading Jersey jibbin’
steez all over the East Coast. The Park at Creek consists of half the
Vernon Peak, and is as fun as shucking corn and eating watermelon.

First off, you
got two down boxes, ebony and ivory (one’s black and one’s white). Then
after that, you got the option of getting crazy fresh on either a 40
foot flat rail set up street style or a down-flat-drop-down box. Both
are crazy fun and nasty enough to get your boxers in a bunch.
Then the run gets
tricky and makes you think. Which way to go? You got to pick one of
three trails all more fun than the other. All the way to the right is
fun but you got to be dipping after you hit the C-box. First rail is
short, small and flat, just the way I like my girls. Just playin’ son,
but for real, after that you got a tree bonker to get angry on and slap
your shred stick on.
Then there’s this
crazy log lying on some mound of snow, I don’t know if it’s supposed to
be there but its fun to aerial over! Say "word" cause after that
there’s this huge flat box that’s like a dinning room table straight out
of like Medieval Times. You could bring your girl or guy if you roll
like that and eat your lunch on this monstrosity.
After you
finish eating there’s another tree on the right to slide on and it’s
funny to watch people catching edges on it while you enjoy your meal.
Butters are where it’s at for the next like 300 feet because this year’s
snow fall [was lousy] and there’s no jump like prior years.
So two trails
meet and there’s this weird box that kinks like 8 times next to a 40
foot flat rail. Both are sweeter than your mom and there’s always some
people watching you there from the easy trail saying “WoW! Did you see
that rail slide dood? That kid must be pro! Let’s go get his
autograph!”
After you sign
your name on some kid’s helmet, check out the Sugar Park. It’s like a
beginner park with like crazy small rails and a crazy small “jump”.
It’s tight, but crowded and you got to dip through there to look tough.
So now you're down at the bottom of the hill and you feel like Chuck
Norris. Before you go back up the freakish gondola, make sure to throw
some vibes around and act tough……..I mean come on, it’s
Jersey.
