Woodstock Tattoo & Body Arts Festival
with SNOWBOARD ART
September 17 - 19, 2004
Woodstock, NY (approx. 100 miles north of NY City)
====================================
See 125 Burton Snowboards that have been turned into collectible art by
some of the world's top tattoo artists. And LOTS more unbelievable things!
I'm sending out this special issue of the Snowboard Szine so my East
Coast. USA readers can save the 3rd weekend in September for this
outstanding and outlandish event.
The town of Woodstock, in case you weren't born then, is where the
original Woodstock Festival was to occur. Outcry and politics sent that
music fest over to Bethel, NY. But Woodstock is a darling funky pretty,
counter-culture-ish art town near the Catskill Mountains, well worth
visiting. And this festival gives you more of a reason.
The second Woodstock Tattoo & Body Arts Festival has an entertainment
line-up that makes it sound like this will be the East Coast's answer to
Burning Man, but without those blasted duststorms.
Promoter Curse Mackey says that this will be the "first time that the
snowboard and art worlds have collided on this level. And if you miss this,
you made a BIG mistake!"
125 Burton snowboards have been turned into art, for sale at between $400
and $7000. Go to the colorful and well-designed
http://www.woodstocktattoo.com to get the goods.
Or bunny hop right over to the schedule of events at

A rail jam by some of the Burton team, on snow that the local Zamboni
picks up is also in the works. ====================================
Here's more on the Woodstock Tattoo & Body Arts Festival
in the words of the promoters:
A groundbreaking event this year is a project called RIDES OF PASSAGE,
co-sponsored by Burton Snowboards, 125 snowboards will be on display in one
of the sickest art exhibits ever. These boards –have been painted, carved,
sculpted, made pretty or pretty dangerous by some of the top tattoo,
graffiti and visionary artists in the world. This is the first time that
Snowboarding, art and tattooing of collided and it is a DO NOT MISS exhibit.
Participating artists include Filip Leu, Don Ed Hardy, Aaron Cain, Sean
Crofoot, Adrian Lee, Joe Capobianco, Jime Litwalk, Jason D’ Aquino, Mario
Desa, Gunnar, Jeff Proctor, Paco Excel, Ron Earhart, Tristan Eaton, and a
111 other twisted minds. The exhibit will debut in Woodstock and then travel
on the Burton World Tour to Tokyo, LA, NYC, Innsbruck, Zurich, and wrap up
in Burlington,VT. where the exhibit will be documented and find a final
resting place in a beautiful book that is underway as we speak. Oh…Pro
Riders from Burton will participate in a RAIL DEMONSTRATION, with snow being
trucked in from an area hockey rink.
(We're waiting for final confirm on the rail jam. I'll send out info to
the Szine readers when I get it. lauren)
The music is everything it should be in Woodstock. Loud, sexy, sweaty,
groovin’ and fresh. The 2004 version will feature another amazing lineup of
local, regional and national artists including hardcore legends Murphy’s
Law. A rockabilly-psychobilly party on opening night with the Kings of
Nuthin’, Speed Crazy, Psychocharger form NYC, Canada’s Gutter Demons and
more.
The New York City Rock-n’Roll Show will feature six of NYC’s hottest
female fronted punk/hard rock bands. Imagine CBGB’s moves to the mountains
for a night to blew the roof off of The Colony (one of the hosting venues.).
A total of 36 bands will perform Reggae, Rock, Blues, Dub, Metal, and let’s
not forge the always captivating Human Marvels, ThEnigma and Katzen with
their rock n’ roll sideshow act….belly dancers, firebreathers and DJ’s round
it out.
