1. Oct. 22 Deadline -Art Contest to Decorate Rails / FunBoxes for Ski
Butternut Terrain Park
(Sorry for the short deadline, Readers. I have to admit I sat on this item
for a few days, thinking I might whip up another Szine to include it in, but
just couldn't do it in time. If you do enter, drop me a line. Maybe we can
put your entry up on our site.
Lauren)
The contest is to decorate ten plywood and steel rails and fun boxes that
line the Ski Butternut (Great Barrington, MA) terrain parks in winter.
To submit work for consideration artists need to submit a sketch or sketches
of an actual hit chosen from one of six hit shapes shown on the Ski
Butternut web site under the snowboarding link. Artists should pick a hit
(or two, or three, if they want to submit multiple sketches) and do a sketch
that depicts their artistic concept integrated into the rail or fun box as a
painting.
Sketches of the hit(s) showing what the rail or fun box would look like when
painted with their artwork need submitted by the October 22nd deadline to
Ski Butternut Terrain Park Art Contest at 380 State Rd., Great Barrington,
MA 01230.
From all artwork submitted a selection committee will choose up to 10
artists to actually paint their design on one of the hits. The artists will
then have access to their assigned hits from October 25th to November 12th
to finish painting the hits. Artist's entry forms along with six pictures
showing a variety of the hit shapes and other information are available
online at
http://www.skibutternut.com/snowboarding/terrain-park.html
Nice prizes await the winners. Prizes range from 1st place which allows the
winner to choose between a $250 check, or Ski Butternut season passes for
their immediate family to lower amounts of cash or lift tickets. There are
ten prizes available in total. Winners will be selected by a jury who will
review the 10 painted hits with winners announced on or around November
25th.

Start drawing and submit your work today. Where else can an artist get a
guarantee that their work will become a hit! Ski Butternut is a family
oriented mountain, so artists are asked to keep that in mind.
