         In This Issue - 3 Big Snowboard Events in the East
==========================================
1. Grand Prix at Killington VT THIS WEEKEND
2. Crotched Mountain Big Air and Slopestyle THIS WEEKEND
3. US Open at Stratton Mountain VT NEXT WEEKEND
4. Empire Shakedown at Mont Saint-Saveur April 4, 5

==========================================
It's our favorite time of the snowboarding year. The snow is soft, the slopes are uncrowded, and the events in the East are EPIC!!

1. Grand Prix at Killington VT THIS WEEKEND

This is the 2nd time the Grand Prix has been in the East in recent years. We had a bang-up time when the Prix was at Mountain Creek in NJ in 2006. See tons of up-close photos of your favorite athletes back when they were young including Shaun White (before he won the Olympics), Andy Finch,(what a smile!) Lindsey Jacobellis, Danny Kass, Kelly Clark, Scotty Lago, Chad Otterstrom, Mason Aguirre, and Gretchen Bleiler at http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/Articles/grandprix06.htm.

The Chevy U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix finals will be this Saturday and Sunday March 15 and 16. Halfpipe finals under the lights Sat. night at 7 pm. Music by Grammy nominated Shiny Toy Guns outdoors at 5 pm. It's all happening at the Bear Mountain Base, where we've had such a good time at another event, Spring Loaded, (coming April 5 & 6, 2008) for the last 3 years (pix at http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/Articles/springloaded07.htm

More than 100 of the world's best snowboarders,will be battling for more than $130,000 in cash and prizes at the Grand Prix. If you can't make it or want to re-live it, the event will be broadcast on NBC March 29th at 2:00 p.m. EDT.

Get all the details at http://www.killington.com/winter/events/grandprix.html

2. Crotched Mountain Big Air and Slopestyle THIS WEEKEND

If New Hampshire is your scene, one of our favorite mountains is having big events this weekend too. Big Air on Sat. http://www.crotchedmountain.com/bigair.html and 4th Annual Sunny Sunday Slopestyle Contest w/ LOTSA SWAG on Sunday http://www.crotchedmountain.com/Calendar.html

==========================================
3. US Open at Stratton Mountain VT NEXT WEEKEND

This is the biggest annual snowboarding event in the East. See last year's event here
http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/Articles/USOpen2007Photos.htm
The US Open is the sixth and final stop on the Burton Global Open Series ("BGOS").  The top male and female riders (as determined by their best 6 results from all of the BGOS events) will be crowned at the US Open. Each rider will take home a cash purse of $100,000 each! The single largest payout in snowboarding!

Details on The Burton US Open here http://opensnowboarding.com/Home.aspx?openid=USO

We are still scratching our heads as to why we at SnowboardSecrets.com, as some of the very few snowboard event writers on the East Coast are not afforded the courtesy of press priveleges at this event although we have national credentials. I guess it's all big business, and not about the grass roots reporters who are out on the snow covering snowboard events all season long including rail jams in August like the Rome Party. That was SO much fun. Check it out on our blog from Sept. 6  at http://snowboardsecretsblog.blogspot.com/search?q=by+any+means

==========================================
4. Empire Shakedown at Mont Saint-Sauveur April 4, 5

We are very excited to be attending our first Shakedown in Montreal in April. We saw a lot of film clips from past Shakedowns this year including in "Blurred", and have heard from friends that it's one not to miss.
LNP who we met at the aforementioned Rome summer party did a crazy trick in "By Any Means" where he slid a picnic table bench in his sock then jumped onto his moving snowboard below. He will be featured in the Shakedown. Rail Jam Friday night, finals of the unusual booter/rail jam event are Saturday night. More at http://www.shakedown.ca/

Update: We had a shagadelic time at the Shakedown. Read here.
