1. Tell us What YOU Are Doing this Summer
Hey, I'm off to snowboard camp in the French Alps next week.
What are YOU doing for sporty fun this summer?
Please write back a few sentences and we'll post them on the site. Include
your first name and last initial, and your town, state, and country.
If you're going to snowboard camp and want to write a little about it for
ths site when you come back, we'd love it. Pictures too.
If you are still looking for something fun to do this summer, you can
probably book a week or 2 at snowboard camp. The dates shown are the times
the camps are open. Read on.

2. 4 Snowboard Camps in French Alps - CHEAP! and Good
Anyway, I'm headed back to the resort Les Deux Alpes (Les 2 Alpes) where I
attended Rossignol Camp in 2003.
(See the picture of me, Todd Richards, Travis Rice, and Hana Beaman goofing
around at camp here -
http://www.snowboardsecrets.com/camps.htm).
That was the summer before Travis Rice blew up with fame.
There are 4 different camps there in the French Alps, this summer.
Rossignol, Beautiful, Girlie (full), and the one I'll be hanging at most -
SMK, which is associated with
SnowboardClub.Co.UK
Prices for camp in Les Deux Alpes are unbeatable, at least by American
standards. There were NO Americans in that town last time I visited. I
wonder what I'll find this time. But the town doesn't even appear in
American guide books, so I think it's still an undiscovered gem, as one of
the two resorts in France with glaciers for summer riding and skiing. It's a
happy valley and I look forward to my re-visit. Grenoble, France is the
"jumping off point" where you get the bus to Les2Alpes.
SMK Camp- June 24 - Aug. 19
SMK sounds like they will have a great set-up. Campers will stay in one
building, with common rooms, a restaurant and bar, and wi-fi, to write home.

3. 3 More Camps - Quebec, Argentina and New Zealand
Two of my snowboard friends are running camps this summer.
John Wilbur has a good sized group headed for his South American Snow
Sessions at Las Lenas, Argentina, for winter riding.
July 8 - Sept. 2.
Learn the full range of mountain skills including shaping a jump and back
country, as well as park and general riding skills. Sounds like a fun time!

to improve their tricks. He is a pro-snowboarder and trampoline artist. The
camp is in Quebec, Canada, and Max says the food and accommodations are: "5

Leave it to a French Canadian to have great food at snowboard camp! Read my

There's a new Freestyle Camp in New Zealand in July and August. They wrote:
2006 Freestyle Snowboard Camp Launches in New Zealand
New Zealand has Access Trips 2006 freestyle snowboard camp to complement
their existing freeride road trip. ?The freestyle terrain in New Zealand is
of such a high standard nowadays and we get so many campers who are mad for
park & pipe that we decided to offer an exclusively freestyle snowboard
camp? says Access Trips founder Alain Chuard. Based in Wanaka, New Zealand,
the camps run for three consecutive one-week sessions, and offer such extras
as heli-boarding, bungee jumping and sky diving.
The camp?s terrain includes two superpipes, beginner, intermediate and
advanced kicker lines, a huge rail park, a quarterpipe and a wallride. The
park is cut daily by the shaper who?s responsible for the Winter X-Games
terrain, so the quality is world-class. When asked why someone should go all
the way to New Zealand for a freestyle camp Alain had the following to say:
?Apart from the fact that New Zealand is one of the most incredible places
on earth, it has Winter when the Northern Hemisphere has Summer. This means
that unlike some summer snowboard camps whose terrain is slushy in the
afternoon, we can offer true Winter park & pipe conditions that last all
day.? Access Trips? New Zealand snowboard camps run throughout the months of
July & August. For more information go to:
